Sandustry Critters Guide: All Creatures, Capture Tools & Uses
Quick answer
Sandustry creatures are officially called Critters. Capture and contain them with Corraller/Critter Fence systems, then verify each critter's current use before routing it into production.
Quick answer
Sandustry “creatures” are officially called Critters. The current official roster lists Shinelet, Lumling, Redweaver, Voltblub, and Voidgrazer. Use the Corraller to capture critters and Critter Fence style containment when building around them.
Do not treat critters as decoration only. Some are connected to useful resource behavior, and the Beginner's Guide specifically notes Lumlings as a possible Water source.
All known Critters
| Critter | Current known role | What to verify in game |
|---|---|---|
| Shinelet | Official critter roster entry | Location, capture behavior, and output |
| Lumling | Mentioned as a Water source | How many are needed and how fast Water appears |
| Redweaver | Official critter roster entry | Location, capture behavior, and factory use |
| Voltblub | Official critter roster entry | Energy or interaction behavior before building around it |
| Voidgrazer | Recycles Void Husk into Void Juice | Containment and access to Void Husk |
This page is intentionally conservative: it tracks verified names and safe setup rules first, then can split individual critter pages when GSC shows demand for Lumling, Voidgrazer, Redweaver, Shinelet, or Voltblub.
How to capture and contain Critters
- Unlock the Corraller through Research.
- Locate the critter and clear a safe path around it.
- Capture it before building the production cell.
- Create a contained enclosure with enough room for movement.
- Keep factory outputs reachable; a critter stuck behind walls is usually useless.
- Label the enclosure by critter type so later experiments do not mix behaviors.
Best early uses
| Goal | Critter angle |
|---|---|
| Water support | Test Lumlings in a contained basin |
| Void Juice recovery | Keep Voidgrazer near Void Husk output |
| Research documentation | Record location and behavior before moving the critter |
| Factory safety | Keep critters away from open Lava, fire, or uncontrolled falling material |
Common problems
“I searched Sandustry creatures but cannot find them”
Search both names. Community posts may say “creatures,” but the official category uses Critters.
“My critter does nothing”
Check whether it has access to the material or space it needs. Voidgrazer, for example, matters when it can reach Void Husk.
“The critter escaped”
Do not build the enclosure while the critter is already loose in the factory. Capture first, then release into a finished containment cell.
